Shri Venkateshwara University celebrated World Environment Day by organizing various events.
Shri Venkateshwara University/VGI Meerut and VIMS Multispecialty Hospital celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June. They organized a tree plantation drive, an environmental seminar, and an awareness campaign.
The Venkateshwara Group Founder President Shri Sudhir Giri, Pro-chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi and the VC Dr KK Dave inaugurated the event by offering flowers on the portrait of Goddess Saraswati.
ProVC Dr Manas, Registrar Dr Piyush Pandey and Dr Suman Kumari joined them to unveil various events held on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026.
University management, along with the forest officials and students, planted Banyan, Parijat, Tulsi, Gooseberry, Neem, Jamun, Rudraksh, Bel, and other medicinal and shady trees to propagate the message of environment protection and conservation.
Later, thousands of Venkateshwara students took out a rally to remove plastic pollution–Save the environment and planted trees to put forth the message of Clean India–Green India.
By collaborating with the UP Forest Department, both Gajraula and Meerut Campuses planted 2100 plants on the campus and on both sides of the NH. We pledged their protection and conservation.
We also felicitated half a dozen NGOs and environmentalists by gifting them shawls and mementos for doing commendable work on environmental protection.
The Venkateshwara Group’s Honourable Founder President Shri Sudhir Giri reiterated on World Environment Day, let’s pledge to plant trees and conduct environment awareness programs on birthdays, marriage anniversaries, and other social and cultural events.
We should also gift each other plants to make such events memorable and inspiring. It’s a lucky coincidence that 5th June is also the birthday of UP CM Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji.
Pro-chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi asserted that the most effective way to reduce global warming and pollution is to plant more and more trees and conserve them.
He said that the main reason for climate change and environmental degradation is that educated and sophisticated people are getting away from nature.
We should all work together to protect the environment. Only then can real development take place without causing harm to nature.
We should stop using plastic in our daily lives, as this will help us protect our Mother Earth.
VC Dr. K.K. Dave said that the Venkateshwara Group is known not only for providing quality education but also for fulfilling its social responsibilities. In this context, we planted 2100 trees, which is an inspiring initiative by the Venkateshwara Group.
Those present included the Registrar, Dr Piyush Pandey, Academic Dean, Dr Rajesh Singh, Dr Alankrita Jain, Dr BS Tyagi, Dr SupritiBhatnagar, Maroof Chaudhary, and Pritpal.
From the Meerut Campus, the Director Operations, Dr Pankaj Kumar, was present along with the Media In charge, Mr. Vishwas Rana, among others.
