Library and Information Science is the academic and professional study of how information and information carriers are formed, distributed, learned, estimated, designated, attained, used, organized, maintained, and managed.

The faculty of Library and Information sciences aims to prepare individuals for positions of responsibility in the field of library and information sciences and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this domain. The faculty is expected, through their instructional, research and service activities, to contribute tangibly to the development of the knowledge base that makes library and information sciences a discipline as well as a profession.
