VIMS ENT specialists provided free check-ups to over 1200 patients during World Hearing Awareness Week. They also performed over 70 operations, which significantly improved the hearing ability of the patients.
In addition, VIMS ENT specialists and medical students educated the public on ways to prevent hearing loss through activities such as quizzes, poster-making, and an awareness rally.
The Group Chairman, Dr Sudhir Giri, Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi, & the HOD of ENT Department Dr VP Singh, inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.
Dr Maitri Kaushik, Dr Shivam Aggarwal, & Dr Monika Deshwal joined them to unveil the World Hearing Awareness Week conclusion ceremony.
Dr. Sudhir Giri, the Group Chairman, believes that deafness or hearing loss not only presents challenges in life but also affects the patient’s confidence and personality.
The HOD of VIMS ENT Department Dr VP Singh reiterated, to hear properly one should always listen & adhere to the Doctor’s advice.
He informed over 150 crore people in the world are suffering from hearing impairment, while 43 crore suffer from complete hearing loss. Ageing, noise pollution, low immunity, drug abuse, junk food & pollutions are the chief causes that cause hearing impairment.
