Mental Health Awareness Week 2025
The Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) run under the aegis of Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute, organized a Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (6-10 Oct.).
The psychiatry department is organizing this 5 day-long event that will feature over half a dozen programs. These include seminars, street plays, poster competitions and awareness events.
The theme is mental health protection through community participation and support.
The Pro-Chancellor, Dr Rajeev Tyagi, VC, Dr KK Dave, and the Medical Dean, Dr Sanjeev Bhatt, inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.




The CMS Dr Suresh G Mehta, and the Psychiatry HOD Dr Sandeep Chaudhary joined them to unveil the Mental Health Awareness Week 2025.
The Venkateshwara Group Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri reiterated that conducting mental health camps, workshops and awareness programs will create a positive outlook about mental health in the society. This will lead to a remarkable improvement in mental health rates in the country.
Pro-Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi announced that through world-class mental health specialists, psychologists, counsellors and research, we will develop the Venkateshwara Psychiatry Department into a centre of excellence.
Shri Venkateshwara University conducted a Mental Health Awareness Week 2025
CMS Dr Suresh G Mehta asserted that high-level counselling plays a formidable role in the effective treatment of mental illnesses along with medicines and other treatment therapies.
Psychiatry HOD, Dr Sandeep Chaudhary, affirmed that mental health will improve by fostering a positive change in the common man and the society’s view about mental illnesses.
Later, MBBS student Aniket Pant and his team highlighted the significance of mental health in personality development through a song and street play.
Then Assistant Professor Dr Udit Singh presented an enlightening lecture on the topic of Community Mental Health Awareness. He emphasized the role of community involvement in the promotion of mental health and well-being.
Later, the MBBS students presented a melodious song that made the environment positive and energetic.
Dr Kriti Kanwar, clinical Psychologist and JR Dr Shreya Sharma conducted the program exceedingly well.
At the program’s conclusion, Dr Kriti Kanwar thanked all the dignitaries and informed that VIMS Psychiatry depth is working for the promotion of mental health–not only within the hospital, but through community outreach programs, through mental health clinics and workshops.
Moreover, she urged all to develop a positive outlook about mental health and work towards removing its taboo from society.
Further, in the coming week, we will conduct many workshops, dialogue sessions and cultural programs to sensitize students, staff and the community about mental health.
Those present included Dr Chitrajeet Singh Juneja, Dr Kriti Kanwar, Dr Vivek Pathak, Dr Snehangi, Dr Vidhisha, Dr Gazal, Dr Mayank, Dr Prerna, Dr Shreya, and Dr Anmol.
Moreover, the Meerut Campus Director, Dr Pratap Singh, was present along with the Media Incharge, Mr. Vishwas Rana, among others.
