The 5 day long AIDS awareness week 2024 dwelled upon prevention & how to protect oneself from contacting the AIDS virus. We hosted AIDS awareness week to mark World AIDS Day on December the 1st.
The Community Medicine department of Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) organized the AIDS awareness week to prevent AIDS.
On this occasion, we hosted a seminar wherein Dr Kamlesh Lal Chandwani was the Chief Guest. Dr Chandwani is Deputy Country Head of John Hopkins University NGO.

In his address, Dr Chandwani asserted by implementing the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), any HIV patient can avail free of the cost checkup & treatment for the disease.
There is no effective treatment or vaccine for AIDS, making it more lethal than cancer, hepatitis & liver psoriasis.
But the Government of India has made the treatment free of cost for the patient through the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO).
Through awareness programs, NACO plays a pivotal role in preventing the spread of AIDS.
Because of the concerted efforts of NACO, there has been a 70 percent drop in the mortality rate of AIDS patients. The best way to prevent AIDS is by spreading awareness about it.
The Venkateshwara Group Founder President, Dr Sudhir Giri, reiterated AIDS is a national curse. We should stop AIDS by making the masses aware through public awareness programs. Let’s pledge to stop the spread of AIDS.
