Green spaces foster learning

Share

With rapid urbanization, cities all over the world are exploding, further reducing the green spaces for its citizens. Studies have shown that green spaces foster learning because they reduce stress & foster concentration.

It is formidable for India, where cities cannot keep pace with the mass influx of people migrating for a better life.

Urban centers are facing the heat as they cannot accommodate the burgeoning population putting pressure on its resources.

The fallout is an encroachment on parks, & open spaces, where children play & relive stress.

Children in cities are stressed because of a lack of open spaces for playing & exercising.

We attribute obesity to the lack of green spaces for exercising because people encroach on them for commercial activities.

This aggravates the problem because children cannot exercise owing to a dearth of spaces for playing. Such children become obese & encounter hypertension & diabetes later in their life.

Urbanites are grappling with the high cost of living because of steep rents & inflationary prices causing a hole in their pockets.

An ideal solution is allocating dedicated green belts in cities which civic bodies should maintain in collaboration with RWAs.

Cities like Meerut are expanding, resulting in the conversion of agricultural land for human habitation, further putting pressure on arable land. Further, villager’s love for city life is spurring the property prices because they see a better life in cities.

This unplanned growth is reducing the green spaces crucial not only for learning but also for a healthy living. A live example is the holiday rush we witness in hill stations because urbanites experience tremendous amounts of stress in cities.

This causes aggressive behavior where people get agitated at the slightest of provocation & commit major crimes marring their career.

Green spaces foster learning by improving concentration

For a healthy life, ample green spaces are crucial because they cleanse the environment, & improve concentration for learning.

Noise pollution in cities is a great distraction because children cannot focus on their studies, leading to learning loss. Children from small town excel in studies because green spaces foster their physical & mental well being.

In metros there is overexposure & temptation which impairs concentration leading to poor selection in good colleges.

One performs well when they study in green surroundings because it improves focus, resulting in internalizing of concepts.

Educationist Dr. Sudhir Giri founded the VGI Meerut in a serene, green environment where learners achieve their dreams.

Placed on the NH 58 Delhi Haridwar road, the institute is an epitome of learning that nurtures educators for the 21st century.

The college’s vast playgrounds foster the overall development of the students because they help to relax & improve concentration.

We organize sports activities where students take part & improve their physique because games are vital for a healthy body.

A remarkable achievement has been of our student Aza Khan who captained the Indian Tug of War team at Outdoor championships at Netherlands. The well maintained green spaces encourage students to take part in games because they improve focus for real learning.

We run B.ed courses in affiliation with CCS University Meerut because they founded VGI for nurturing quality teachers in UP.

Further, the National Council for Teacher education (NCTE) has recognized the B.ed course because it monitors teacher education in the country.
