B Pharma duration

The B Pharma duration is of 4 years, comprising 8 semesters and all 12th pass Science students can pursue this job oriented course.

The B Pharma course duration of 4 years covers topics related to pharmaceutical science, including drugs & medicines, medicinal chemistry, industrial pharmacy, and other topics.

Further, the 4 years duration B Pharma course allows many specializations for the candidates to choose from.

· Pharmaceutical Chemistry: In pharmaceutical chemistry, students learn about drug design, testing, and development, as well as how to take a treatment or drug safely. Students also learn about biology, engineering, and technology principles that they apply to develop new procedures and processes.

· Pharmaceutics: The study of themes linked to pharmacies, such as biomedical analyses, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, and pharmacodynamics, come under pharmaceutics.

The topic deals with the development, design, distribution, and use of medications for disease prevention and relief.

· Pharmacology: It is the study of pharmacological reactions based on biological principles. It entails the investigation of medications’ biological effects, chemical properties, and therapeutic applications.

Post Pandemic people have realized that vaccines are the best guard against viruses because they prevent severe infection, thus preventing hospitalization.

With potent viruses afflicting humans, a career in pharmacy is stable and rewarding because a healthy life is crucial for all.

B Pharma duration & eligibility

First year B. Pharm: Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as a subject and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (P.C.M) and or Biology. (P.C.B / P.C.M.B.) as optional subjects individually.

Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.

B. Pharm lateral entry (to third semester): A pass in D. Pharm. Course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy.

Both PCM & PCB students are eligible to pursue B Pharma because they have chemistry as a compulsory subject.

How to get admission in B Pharmacy

Students desirous of pursuing B Pharma should note that some colleges admit candidates based on their marks in the qualifying examination while some intake them through an entrance exam.

One should check the admission procedure of individual colleges so that they avoid last-minute hiccups.

TS EAMCET–Telangana State Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test

UPSEE–Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination

NEET-UG–National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate)

PUCET–Punjab University Common Entrance Test 

Students who cannot score well in the entrance exams for admission to the 4 years duration B Pharma course shouldn’t get disheartened because many institutes admit candidates based on their marks in the qualifying exam. 

The GOI’s INR 15000 crores PLI scheme will foster domestic production of pharmaceuticals because we want to strengthen our supply chains.

The average B Pharma course fees ranges from INR 20000 to INR 400000 depending on the institute where a student takes admission.

The salary after completing the 4 years duration B Pharma course ranges between INR 4 to 14 LPA depending on the skill sets & years of experience.

B Pharmacy Salary

Medical Writer: A medical writer’s role is to collaborate with doctors and keep track of all medical results, and medical information. Their salary ranges from INR 4- 6 LPA.

Clinical Researcher: A CL carries out research & tests to devise vaccines because constant research is the need of the hour. Their average salary is 5 LPA.

Drug Inspector: They ensure that only licensed Pharmacists are dispensing drugs and carry out raids to check the quality of the medicines. They earn between INR 8 – 14 LPA.

Medical Representative: They detail the drugs to the Doctors and ask for prescriptions.

They are the brand ambassador who nurture healthy relationship with Medical practitioners and augment the revenue of the firm. Their salary ranges between INR 4- 8 LPA.

Pharmacy Business: By knowing all the intricacies of the medicines, the ideal option is to become a pharmacy retailer or wholesaler.

Pharmacy business offers good margins to the tune of 30% which attracts many to enter this domain. Their salary range is between INR 7- 10 LPA.

Hospital Pharmacist: Every hospital, should have a dispensary to allocate drugs because medicines assuage the patients from their suffering. With new hospitals coming up, a pharmacist will get employed because he is an expert in medicines and drugs.

They earn anywhere between INR 3–6 LPA.

Chemical Technician: A chemical technician assists the researcher in testing & producing chemical products using lab equipment and techniques. They do chemical processing and report writing for developing potent drugs. They earn between INR 5-8 LPA.

Health Inspectors: HI keep a check on those drugs that are hazardous for human consumption. They earn between INR 5- 10 LPA.

It also includes Mathematics, Anatomy & Pharmaceutical Microbiology.

Further Pathophysiology of Common diseases, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, & Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence & ethics.

Other subjects are Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Industrial Management, etc.
